Power BI Developer

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Gather and analyze business requirements to translate them into effective data visualizations and insights.
• Connect to multiple data sources (SQL databases, Excel, APIs, cloud platforms, etc.) and perform data transformation using Power Query.
• Create efficient and optimized data models using relationships, calculated columns, and measures.
• Develop DAX calculations for KPIs, metrics, and advanced business logic.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance optimization of reports.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, and data engineers to understand reporting needs.
• Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and manage data access controls.
• Publish reports to Power BI Service and manage workspaces, datasets, and scheduled refreshes.
• Support end users by resolving data/report-related issues and providing training when required.

What You Should Know:

Experience:

• 2 to 5 years of experience in BI/Reporting/Data Analytics roles.
• Minimum 2+ years hands-on experience in Power BI development.

Power BI Skills:

• Strong experience in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Expertise in creating dashboards, drill-through reports, slicers, bookmarks, and custom visuals.
• Experience with data modeling concepts (star schema, snowflake schema).

DAX & Data Modeling:

• Strong knowledge of DAX (CALCULATE, FILTER, ALL, SUMX, etc.).
• Ability to create complex measures and optimize performance.

Data Transformation:

• Proficiency in Power Query (M language).
• Experience in cleaning, transforming, and shaping large datasets.

Database Knowledge:

• Good knowledge of SQL (joins, subqueries, aggregations).
• Experience working with relational databases like MySQL, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.

Data Integration:

• Experience connecting to multiple data sources including Excel, SharePoint, REST APIs, Azure, etc.

Performance Optimization:

• Ability to analyze and optimize report performance using best practices.

Version Control & Deployment:

• Familiarity with deployment pipelines and workspace management.
• Basic understanding of Git or version control practices (preferred).

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret business data and convert it into meaningful insights.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Knowledge of ETL tools.
