Manual Test Engineer

What You’ll Do:

• Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and technical documents to understand application behavior.
• Design, develop, and execute detailed test cases and test scenarios for web and/or mobile applications.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT support testing.
• Identify, document, and track defects using defect tracking tools with clear reproduction steps and evidence.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and QA team members to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Conduct exploratory testing to identify edge cases and usability issues.
• Validate UI/UX, data integrity, workflows, and business logic across different environments.
• Participate in requirement reviews and provide early feedback on testability and potential risks.
• Prepare test reports, test summary documents, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure high-quality releases by following QA best practices and established testing processes.

What You Should Know:

Experience:

• 2 to 5 years of experience in manual software testing (web and/or mobile applications).

Testing Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC.
• Experience in functional, regression, integration, smoke, and sanity testing.
• Knowledge of black-box testing techniques (boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, etc.).

Test Case Design:

• Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test cases and test scenarios.
• Experience in creating test plans and test strategy documents.

Defect Management:

• Hands-on experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, or HP ALM.
• Strong understanding of defect lifecycle and severity/priority classification.

Database Knowledge:

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL queries for validating backend data.

API Testing (Basic):

• Familiarity with REST API testing using tools like Postman (preferred).

Cross-Browser / Cross-Platform Testing:

• Experience testing applications across multiple browsers, devices, and operating systems.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Ability to prepare test execution reports and maintain test documentation.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
